A thermal mass flow meter calculates gas mass flow by measuring the cooling effect of a gas stream passing over a heated sensor. Two PT100 RTD elements sit in the flow path. One sensor measures the process gas temperature. The other sensor is heated with a constant power or constant temperature difference. As gas molecules flow past, they carry heat away. How to Select and Install a Thermal Mass Flow Meter

Give us these five data points and we will select the right model for you: gas type, minimum and maximum flow rate, pipe inner diameter or DN, operating pressure in bar, and gas temperature in °C. We need the pipe diameter exactly. Most engineers skip this part. They give us the line size, but the internal diameter varies between Sch 40, Sch 80, and metric pipe.
